Yesterday I prepared a CSX covered hopper for corn loading. I looked it over,it was built in 4-64,the trucks were marked L&N 3-64. Had new wheels on it though. High handbrake wheel. They are getting their investment back on that car. Joe

We had 5-6 badly faded Penn Central gondolas with Conrail markings not much more evident on the L89 a couple of months back out of Frankfort. I also saw two Autoracks at Gest Street Yard in Cincy still labeled for the L&N. I wonder how those babies escaped the paint cans?

EL returns to the hometown

 Wow, its been 30+ yrs since the EL existed, but there is a grainer sitting in Woodhen again. Yes, it is in HLCX markings w/that ugly boxcar red paint on it, but you can clearly see the EL name coming back through it. And you can even see traces of that lovely diamond E coming through also. Sure made my day, today! 8)

Finding SOU cars and equipment isn't as rare as finding anything with N&W still on it. For a "merger of equals" it's obviously one-sided when it comes to paint.
