Fallen Flags on area RRs

Post by D.L. » Thu Jun 07, 2007 4:27 pm

Out here on the 5th, we get a variety of road names. Today, I saw a green&yellow MKT "Katy" car handed off from NS to MAW. Do the rest of you out there see any of these names from the past :?: If so, can you please post them for the record. Its hard to believe that some of these long gone RR names are still around. :!:

If a paint job lasts twenty years, it's possible to see fallen flags for a long time.

As of Thursday night their was a Milwaukee Road 40' boxcar inside International Paper - Fort Wayne being unloaded. This was connected to a few Rail Box cars then a few NS boxcars across the road in the siding waiting to be switched out with the cars inside.

Back in the 90's when the unit tank train would roll thru on NS there would be a grey Wabash covered hopper on the end of the train. Kevin

Today there are 4 of those MKT (katy) cars in WDB on the MAW. I think they are carrying cement somewhere. Seeing many ff names at E. Wayne these days also.

Saw a 50' covered hopper a couple years ago with the NYC "Cigar Band" herald on one end. I've alse seen a C&O high-cube boxcar running on the Wabash...still some neat cars to be found out there.

Saw a good ole "wormy" PC green grainer in town today. Must still be lots of those running around the rails yet.
