T&C Interurban 1913-1914

Post by cjberndt » Mon May 14, 2018 9:32 pm

When the Toledo & Chicago Interurban was reorganized in 1913, its successor, Ft. Wayne & Northwestern, photographed the rail/highway crossings. The attached photo is looking east on Coliseum across Lima Rd.

Not quite seven lanes in each direction.

If you enlarge the picture, you can read the Wolf and Dessauer's billboard, as well as the billboard for a car dealership, and see the New York Central (FW&J) crossing in the distance.

It was California Road back then. I think it wasn't renamed Coliseum until the 70's.

I know, and he probably knows, too. I was just yanking his chain. I would think he was just giving the modern reference points for those that don't know.
