NS 1801 sitting behind the fuel pad at the East Wayne Yard. I had hoped to catch the 1801 leading on the Fostoria District..
Painted in special yellow, gray, black, and white scheme to highlight the conversion from DC to AC traction. and is designated as a SD70ACC

Is East Wayne Fort Wayne or New Haven ?

Cool paint scheme. Will NS paint any more of them like this?

East Wayne is in the City of New Haven, west to Meyer Rd., which is the dividing line between New Haven and Ft. Wayne.

At least for now, only the first two, #1800 and 1801 are to have this or any other special scheme. The others in the pipeline at this time are being painted standard NS. Most are being shipped to Altoona in primer for set up and painting, but I heard EMD Muncie will be painting some there.

Interestingly enough though, my employer, which is west of Meyer Road, has a Fort Wayne mailing address.

That is how it should be.

Oops, sorry, I meant EAST of Meyer, not west.

Just a guess, but maybe your business established an address (in Fort Wayne) before the demarcation was established. The Post Office requires an act of congress to change anything.

I don't know how long Meyer Road has been the boundary, but we moved into the current building in 1986, and it's been that way from the beginning. If you look at Google Maps, about every business in the area shows a Fort Wayne address, and then lists New Haven below it as the location. Could it be tied to the 46803 area code?

The number in an address is not related to whether the property is in a particular community or in a rural area. Meyer Rd. is a perfect example: depending on your location you may be in Ft. Wayne, New Haven or Allen Co., but the numeric addresses are linear as you go down the road. Addresses in recent years have been assigned to support emergency services. It's tough with curving streets, but they still try to support emergency services.

The city in your postal address is the post office that serves your property. With rare exceptions, properties in rural areas have city postal addresses because they are served by P.O.s in cities.

Note that there are physical addresses and postal addresses, and they may be different. It is possible for a property to be physically located in Ft. Wayne and have a New Haven postal address, and vice versa.
