Eastbound Wabash train No. 6 on the ground at Edon OH

(1909): Eastbound Wabash train No. 6, traveling at about 50 miles per hour, derailed east of Edon about 8 p.m. on May 2, 1909. A turned switch point threw the tender's trucks off the rails, breaking the coupling between the tender and the engine. The engine remained on the tracks but the tender overturned and the obstruction caused derailment of the remainder of the train, consisting of a baggage car, three day coaches, three Pullman cars and a café car. More than 200 yards of track were torn up. No one was seriously injured. No. 6 was a fast train that made only four stops between Chicago and Detroit.
