Other sources say he was killed in a freak accident involving a fallen tree.

If a tree falls in the forest, and it lands on a mime, does it make a sound?

Probably not, but one less mime in the world is a win-win for everyone...... On a more serious note, this was a horrible tragic accident, and from all information I have read is just one of those "Act of God" accidents that could not be anticipated or prevented. My condolences go out to the victim's family as well as his fellow railroaders. That could not have been a pleasant thing to find for the crew.
If my opinions offend you, you should see the ones I keep to myself........

Poor man, doing his job, doing nothing wrong. Railroading is still a hazardous business. He was only 39.
