I pass by this everyday going to and from Vantage Career Center. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's finished. 8)

Yes, the ties are getting laid. 8) Supposedly, all the ties and the rail will be trucked in. There are union and non-union crews doing the work. Have saw RJ Corman trucks there, but not sure who is in charge. There is another company there to. Hopefully, all this will pay off in time. Looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack. Hoping it happens.

Ken, thanks for the many photo updates you have given. Keep them coming. I wonder if PR Tech will be getting a switch put in when the rail is laid. That would be cool if they did and used it even once in awhile. The switch was on the plans we saw. Hoping for that too!

Well as many of you have heard the track laying has begun for the Supersite. PW that would be great if PR Tech started using rail service. Get that rail polished! Here's the latest update. Ken 8)

Thanks for all the updated pictures as they proceed with this project. I was on 30 yesterday and done a double-take looking to the North. I am from Decatur, with all the track they scrapped years ago, East, West, South, Southwest of Decatur it's more then a welcome site seeing newly installed track... even if for now, it leads to nowhere.

That rusted rail looks nice. Looks just like all those that got pulled. A model railroader must have laid it with the weathered look, ties will come around.

This picture is looking west from US 127. If you look close you will see painted dots and a spike every 20 dots or so.
Supersite 4 009.JPG
The dots are for tie placement and a string is tied from spike to spike to line up the end of the ties. Note the kerf cut into the top of the ties.
Supersite 4 010.JPG
That kerf is for placement of the field side of the tieplates. Once the rail is in place they can set the other tie plate and gage the opposite rail

This will be a section of panel track for the US 127 crossing. There really going to have to hustle to put this in with the amount of traffic that goes by.

US 127 will be closed for 30 days starting Oct.2 for installation of crossing for SuperRail. This was in Van Wert Rag according to ODOT article.

This was a surprise! As PW stated there will be a turnout installed. This makes me think for what it cost to install a turnout there must be plans to start using the line as soon as the work is complete

I drove over the US 127 crossing last week when I was working in town. I couldn't believe how much ballast is piled up on top of the tracks to the east of the crossing. I am not very familiar with the area, is there any kind of map showing the entire route of the new track for the project?

Greg, I was thinking the same to. But buy the time you get the track lifted, lined and the shoulders formed I think the ballast will disappear really quick. As for a map I seen one years back and from memory it just showed the current end of track to Marsh Rd on it.

Notch, I'm sure cost had a great deal to do with it. On a side note it looks like the Bonnewitz st. crossing will also be upgraded with a precast setup as well. Ken 8)
