AMV visitors 2-14-2015

Post by jett37 » Sat Feb 14, 2015 7:14 pm

Chad has wanted to come and run his Decatur and Eastern N scale items on the Albany & Mississinewa Valley I'm thinking for three or four years. Today he and Kent showed up and brought some nice inventory. Never been a RDC car, or E8 and only one Steamer that never ran well on the AMV. That all changed today. I know Kent had some fantastic photos. I hope he post them some where on a forum for others to see. They brought some nice locomotives. Just a sample. ( I want a steamer and something with ditch lights now.) Thanks guy's, it was a fun afternoon. The smile on Chads face watching his INRD locomotives perform was a joy to see. Kent was deep in thought to have his next photo angle just right. :D jett

Thanks again to the AMV for the opportunity.
The Photos that you post here does not do the layout justice, it is a nice looking layout.

Great pics. I need to get off my butt and get busy again. I've had modelers block for the last two years. Ken 8)

Yep, I find if I’m not careful I’m glued to doing nothing.

Chad you and Kent will have to come back, we need to hack around with a couple of things to see why they did not perform like they should. I want to see that Burlington SD9 strut it’s stuff. Mean time the Burlington GP20 was working the industrial spur and then later was seen done for the day at the Hamilton yards service area.

One nice thing about photo's, I can still enjoy Kent's Kato Burlington E8/9 buzzing around the track-------

Bob, ask the AMV loco dept if they have a spare loco to sell to the Decatur Eastern in AMV paint. Would like one to run on my branch line.

Depends on what you want. The AMV has an old Life Like 1994-1995 GP18 couplers are truck-mounted Rapidos (open pilots). Electrical pick up is by wire. First unit painted for the AMV in British Crimson sitting in the round house (closet) that is yours if you want it. If you prefer a newer locomotive you would have to wait until warmer weather when the paint shop could paint another. Price for that unit would be determined by the cost of it to the AMV. If you want newer, let me know so I can look for a Eng. at Muncie or Greenville, Oh. train show this week end.

All AMV loco's are in the Model Masters British Crimson Red. Camera Flash makes it brighter then it looks on the layout. You can buy the paint at Phil's,( not sure if Gary would have it) and do one yourself. Just use your decal sheet and print the logo. By the way I found the Testor's decal sheet at Hobby Lobby. I find my printer ink is not water proof. I have to let the decal set several hours after printing and then lightly put some Testor's Dull cote on it. Not sure what model of locomotive you are wanting but the numbering of the AMV roster is as follows. (Most were from their original numbers except three of the Alco’s.
GP18 ex NW AMV 920
RS 11 AMV1210 (purchased undecorated)
C-420 ex Sou. AMV 1211
C-420 ex SCL AMV 1212
RSD 15 ex ATSF AMV 1213
Dash8-40B ex CR AMV 5068
SD9 ex CR AMV 6922

GP40 ex PC AMV 2498 (retired and scrapped)

Chad I forgot about the first AMV paint scheme to run around on the layout. It was in early 2008 I cobbled a SCL unit into the AMV. Would be a cheap way to go for you. Since we are in make believe any thing you come up with would be OK. Anxious to see what you do. I feel I got a pat on the back just by you wanting to do such a thing. Bob J.
