Work at Hugo?

Thursday I noticed that the NCD was full of MOW equipment between Nutmann av and Engle road, and yesterday crossing the Huntington District on Nutmann I noticed that most of the wayside ballast had been scrapped up into big piles and it looked like some grading had been done, with fresh blue spray paint marking several locations all around the plant.

Could this be the start of NS's "super secret" capacity improvement project finally getting underway?

When was the last time the diamond was replaced? Is it due?

I suppose that is as good an explanation as any. Provided they have any money left over after they two-track from Junction to Hartford City AND raise the bridge over the Marion District in Wabash to accommodate double stacks...LOL!

They were, however, scraping up the wayside ballast along the Huntington District well west of the diamond, so it "looks" like whatever it is might be more than just the diamond.

Perhaps New Yard is getting an upgrade to it's west entry switch?

Whatever it is they are doing, it's more than just the diamond. Tonight Nutmann ave was closed with a detour at the NCD grade crossing, asphalt torn up etc. Aren't the gates here new within the past few years?

I went over there tonight and looked around. The closed crossing appears to be a normal maintenance thing. I didn't see ANYTHING that indicated a large scale project anywhere in the vicinity. Not saying there won't be one, just that there is no sign of anything right now.

Those are only months (like less than four) old.
