Not quite abandoned but no longer used as intended either this is the former LE&W/NKP Frankfort Divison to Lima OH,
That is the east end of Oakland, between Coldwater and Fort Recovery. Scene of a collision between a couple of trains
that killed one of the engineers (IIRC) about 1920.
Today RJ Corman has the unused section of the line to stuffed with tanks cars waiting to be called out of storage for service
or to be shopped or dismantled...

The NKP signals will never see mainline service again..

If that bracket signal needs a new home, I know a guy.

This line never really had a lot of traffic to keep it as a mainline.

There was a time it did have a lot of traffic. When the NKP moved their acquired main line operations from the Cloverleaf via Continental and Delphos to the LE&W via Lima, there was a tremendous amount of traffic. Even in the 1970's, there were at least eight trains a day, plus a good deal of seasonal grain traffic. It started dwindling when the bridge burned on the Cloverleaf west of Charleston, IL, and traffic was rerouted via Decatur, IL. The merger of the Southern and the N&W and the rebuilding of today's New Castle District, especially between Fort Wayne and Muncie, were death knells.

I was thinking more of on-line traffic. Weren't most of those 8 trains all bridge traffic?
