Piqua Yard

Post by Notch 8 » Wed Jan 03, 2018 12:18 pm

Does any know the timeline for the tower at Piqua Yard ? When was it last used as intended and what all was controlled from Piqua Tower ? Did anyone shot much of this when it was operational. Anyone have a layout when all the tracks were in ? I see the the NS is making good use of the former Triple Crown Yard and the Industrial Lead tracks off Meyer Road.

This map was created in 1916 and updated through 1967. It shows "Piqua Yd. Office" (the tower) and "hump signal" near the center of the map, but we don't know when they were built. I also labeled the FFW&W.

The two mainlines and 20 stacking tracks were west of the hump, and almost as many east of the hump.

CF&E used the tower as its office until it built the new shops about 5 years ago.

I believe that CF&E partially opened the tower for MOW Crews. Even tho there was a tower the switches were hand thrown ?
