Post by Notch 8 » Sun Mar 12, 2006 1:06 pm

Did East Wayne see many of the Alco's that were on the NW or were these based elsewhere on the system...
Looking for some good pics taken at East Wayne with of coarse Alco's in the pic any one on forum that was a shutterbug in that paticular era, and when I say Alco's Im talking like C series.

Alco at East WAyne

Post by IronDuke » Sun Mar 12, 2006 11:00 pm

In the late 60's and early 70's all of the various road alcos came into Fort Wayne on a regular basis. I have some black & white shots of 3 630's on an eastbound empty coal train leaving East Wayne. I remember seeing all the Wabash 424/425's all the time in the late 60's and early 70's.

I have a under exposed photo (not top quality) of NW 2854 with NKP stripes showing ready to depart for Bellvue from E Wayne but I do not know how to post it to this site. Photo was taken Jan. 12, 1974

You'll need to first create an account on this site to be able to post images/files. Or if you'd like, just email the picture to myself using the email function under this message, and I'll get it posted for ya. I'd like to see it.

I was looking through my collection and found these slides. All were trailing units but were at New Haven.

N&W 2854 was at Frankfort, In July 1974 in the NW paint scheme.

N&W 2851 was at West yards Muncie, In. after a bearing was overheating in 1971 on it's way to Bellevue, Oh. A truck hit a bridge at Veedersburg, In. that derailed the unit.
