New Haven Depot

The historic group at New Haven was awarded a large grant a couple of months ago. I believe they had to provide a 20% match, but it may be in-kind (labor or materials rather than cash). They are working with an architect on plans to renovate the depot. The grant is also for a new trail or some such ...

Fort Wayne Line single-tracking

MR77100:

Can you cite your source(s) for this?: "...Conrail single-tracked the PRR main through Indiana in 1985-1986. They wanted to downgrade the line in order to stuff all their freights on the Water Level Route."

Was that in a Conrail development plan?

Lines North of Fort Wayne

Just for clarity, the Fort Wayne & Jackson owned the line that ran north to Auburn, Waterloo, Pleasant Lake, Angola, and into Michigan. It was leased to the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern until 1914, then to the NYC until 1968, then to the PC. During either the PC or Conrail era, the FtW&J was sold ...

Eel River RR - CR40A

It looks like a shed for the house. It might have been an onion storage shed, but is fairly small for that purpose. Most onion buildings I've seen were larger. It has no door on the track side. It's a good distance from the former track, so unless there was a side track, its probably not a RR-relate...
