The Buckeye State

June of last year I opened an office over in Bowling Green OH. and have been hanging out over that way. My office is at mp 21 on the T&OC Toledo Secondary and every now and then will catch something going past.. CSX in NW OH, is an awful lot like NS is to NE IN, tracks going everywhere..

DPU up on the Chicago Line

The NS has been running some heavy train over the Chicago Line 17000 tons plus.. However, the most popular way to add capacity right now, is to simply build ever longer trains with DPUs.

East end of the ND&W being lifted

Crews from Pioneer Railcorp have started salvaging track materials for the section of severed trackage on the north side of US24. I was surprised how many decent ties they actually piled up. And so the former Wabash 5th District gets a little shorter as the section between US24 to the east side of L...

Re: Bob's Fort Wayne area photo of the week

It's been forever since I nosed around overthere, but I seem to remember seeing (circa 2003) long-abandoned coaling facilities..which at the time I just assumed they were a relic of some old coal dealer. But you wouldn't have to twist my arm too hard to get me to believe it was part of GE's physica...

PRR St Mary's River bridge looking west towards Junction. The lines on the south side of the bridge were water lines or steam lines.. I know they ran parallel with the railroad for a short distance. I always thought they ran to the steam plant on the backside of the GE/BAE Facility off Taylor Stree...
