Re: Wabash & Erie Canal Texas OH

Interesting, but slow and limited as to how much weight a canal boat could float and still fit in the locks.

Re: Saint Joseph Valley Railway

Just think of the money Mr. Bucklin could have saved if HO or N were available. It had to be frustrating for him, none the less.

Re: On the Road (again)

On Thursday, my wife saw one of these cars rolling down (old) SR1 near the airport.

I found a news story stating the cars are manufactured by Bombardier in Schenectedy, NY. So, how is FWA on the route from there to San Fran?

Just a guess, but maybe your business established an address (in Fort Wayne) before the demarcation was established. The Post Office requires an act of congress to change anything.

I was afraid they were going to all eggs in one basket mode right after they announced they would move the dispatchers. Kinda sucks they have to root for the Falcons now.

Interestingly enough though, my employer, which is west of Meyer Road, has a Fort Wayne mailing address.
That is how it should be.

Re: On the Road (again)

This morning, I saw another BART car on a semi trailer rolling West on Jefferson, so is it coming out of the fort, or just passing thru?

Re: Fort wayne maps 1898

Remember, when these maps were drawn up, they were literally drawn. By guys with BIG drafting tables, by hand. It took years for them to be completed, as they had to calculate and scale every line, by hand with no hand calculator. There was plenty of time for plans to change, or property to change h...

It ends just East of SR 301, not 1.

On the Road (again)

Anybody else notice the BART cars rolling down I-69 on a flat-bed semi? I've seen three in the last couple of weeks. Hard to get a photo when your closing speed is in excess of 150mph.

Re: Triple Crown Yard

Over on another website, someone said 10E swaps blocks in Piqua and a 10R makes a pick-up. It would make sense that they can come in one end and out the other. Then, LF10 and LF14 make stops in Piqua also.

Interesting they would all fail at about the same time. Wonder if WWI had anything to do with it?
I'm sure the war and the flu pandemic took millions of people out of the economy. Also, these were weak lines and the roadway improvements made them a "nice to have" instead of a "necessity."
