Re: Pennsylvania Railroad

... Would it have been great driving on US30 pacing one of these trains? .... I doubt it. In 1946, US30 was using dis-jointed local roads (like Washington Center Road West of Hillegas). Only a few were close to the tracks like the 4-lane highway we have today. Most trains would in all likelyhood, l...

Re: Bob's Fort Wayne area photo of the week

I've noticed an up-tick lately in the number of re-crews at Winters Rd for trains going to Chicago. Especially when there is a "fleet" of trains. One will stop at Thomas Rd. or Hill or even Hadley Rd, one at Junction (Taylor St?) and the 2nd or 3rd at Winters Rd or some variation.

Re: Trains seen on NCD!

Mon04FEB2019
Dispatcher told the relief crew for L69 they had to wait for a "wreck train" to back around HUGO.
Was there a wreck somewhere that required a wreck train, or did I mis-hear?

Re: Trains seen on NCD!

Guess who's back?

yup NS 196 and 197 are back running on the NCD. Not sure what the endpoints are yet, but fairly certain they run the full NCD, Cincy-Fort.

Re: DPU up on the Chicago Line

Interesting that they use them on the water-level route. On the New Castle District, with a larger number of grades, they are relatively rare.

It always amuses me how the "hardcore" photographers won't go out unless the sun is in a clear-blue sky. They miss interesting opportunities, like these.
