Interstate Industrial Park

I think NS gets it all, now. I see (hear) LF14 heading up the GR&I. I haven't heard of CF&E going up there, but I can't rule it out. And you're right there's not that many customers left to fight for in there anymore. Tri-State may be the biggest customer left on the GR&I

I forgot to mention the two "temporary" trains O42 and O44. They are a train of empty flatcars returning to reload some of the 10,000 trailers FEMA bought as temporary housing for Katrina/Rita victims along the Gulf Coast. I've seen the loaded version heading south on the Anderson Branch through War...

more crossings

As I drove home tonight I noticed that there are foundations for for more crossing signals at County Line Rd and 1050N. That's after they added gates/flashers at 800N and 200N in Wells County. 1050N will be the maintainer's newest headache. It will have a new (UP hooded-style) signal south of the ro...

Scanners

I busted the battery contact springs on my Radio Shack Pro46 scanner. Since it's about 10 years old, I was thinking about replacing rather than repairing. What's everyone else using? Or what unit do you have your heart set on? I'm just looking for suggestions/ideas before I decide. Thanks

GMTX 2621

FYI I saw GMTX 2621 with the PRR 5433 (ex con) GP38 like in your first photo, in train L69 heading for Muncie Thursday evening. An SD40 was pulling, while the GP38s were along for the ride. They were isolated or dead. Sorry, I didn't get a shot of it. The 5344 came back north on a train I saw at Hug...

NCD grade

The NCD was just a branch line for most of its existance, so they didn't do any major grade work. It just follows the lay of the land for the most part and has lots of little humps and sags. If anything going north past FWA airport should be level, especially at Baer Yard. Past Baer Yard there is a ...

NCD

It's been several months since I've seen or heard them. They may be running in the middle of the night, so I can't be sure whether they still go through or not.

When you do head up this way, I'll take you by the new control tower at FWA. It should have a good view of the NCD

I overlooked the I&O/RailAmerica connection in my earlier post. I'm still wondering if NS will give up "control" of the sections that are CTC controlled.

I would say it's new as there is a note on the plans to move an existing intermediate signal for the siding.

Chaser I sit at Kingsland only if I know there is a train coming, otherwise I head on south because I can see the track from my house. When I do wait I sit there or on 800N at the north end of the siding. Yes they block 700N regularly, although not as often. You can hear the dispatcher telling the c...

Montpelier/Menards

To continue a thread from the old location, I have updated information on some track changes around Montpelier OH. Even though this is on the Detroit District, it's still the Lake Divsion which means it's dispatched from East Wayne and the Indiana Northeastern RR goes into Montpelier Yard, so it's r...

Maybe, but I doubt it. Why go to all the trouble of hiring a dispatcher and setting up an office for two or three trains a day when you've got someone already doing the work for you? (Unless the agreement with NS is about to expire, then I might think the same way you do.) I'm guessing they just wan...

NCT Trains I have known

Well let's see, in the last few weeks I've heard or watched 196, M96, 197, 177, 25A, 251, 264, 215, I15, 216, I16, 235, 236, 230, I30, 276, 313, 40A, 61N, L69, and L68. Not much has changed. L80 has been replaced by L68/L69 which now are called out of Muncie and run to East Wayne (or Bear Yard if th...

I caught a train in Peru with EMDX 76 demonstrator as the second unit.
