Re: Saint Joseph Valley Railway

Mike, That could very well be. Also, I once saw that there is a nature trail or something at the Bonneyville Mill park between Middlebury and Bristol called "The Valley Line". I would presume that some of the old right of way was used for the trail but I have never really had the oppurtunity to chec...

Re: Saint Joseph Valley Railway

Mark, I'd love to see your book but there is only one thing. I found out while "Googling" for St Joseph Valley Railway that there were actually *TWO* of them that were completely unrelated. There was evidently a short-lived line that ran north from South Bend into Michigan in the 1880's and '90's. T...

Re: Saint Joseph Valley Railway

Mike, That's a good post! I was frustrated for years over trying to find info on the "Valley Line". The best info I have found to date is in Elmer Sulzer's Book, "The Ghost Railroads of Indiana". It was out of print for years but was recently reprinted. He has a short chapter devoted to it. While th...

At times the old right-of-way completely disappears through the plowed only to suddenly reappear again at some land mark. The former land ownder at "Yoder Station", Carl Dinneman (Sp?) erected a landmar...

Re: Saint Joseph Valley Railway

Dear "Sylvan Lake": Thanks for your response. I wasn't sure if anyone would respond or not! I have the book "The Ghost Railroads..." but not the other book you mentioned. Also, there is a small tidbit of info about it in the back section of "The Electric Interurban Railways in America" by John Due &...

Re: Saint Joseph Valley Railway

I know this is an old post but I accidently came across this while "Googling" St Joseph Valley Railway at the Topeka Library. I have been interested in this for a long time since at least the mid 1980's after my then girlfriend (and future wife) told me that part of the old roadbed was in her fronty...
