Re: NCD Eastbounds Question

You're welcome Mark. Now I'm hearing rumblings of a possible light power move special to get some of the new ACe's outta town. July 4th is barely two weeks away and NS will want them in place at least 24-48 hours early in preps for their portrait in N. Carolina. If time is running tight towards the ...

Re: NCD Eastbounds Question

The grape vine says they could/would use one of the Chatt trains and recrew once at Muncie with a MR crew and let them make the grab. Then again, I've heard that a special would be called and just use a engine from the yard and run as a (ZERO) train. I love me some rumors, what makes that railroad ...

Re: NS Crew Base Question

The only time you would hear the NCD dispatcher Joe is if he's talking to a train at Kingsland or possibly Bluffton. Winters Road is where the Huntington District dispatcher takes over. The NCD dispatcher is using radio bases a long ways from Ft Wayne, which is probably why you never hear him.

Re: 66N and Bluffton ethanol plant

Much of Bluffton's ethanol goes to Sewaren, NJ. Unit ethanol trains are similar to grains in the fact that they can be symbolled with whatever's available at the time the train's routing is planned and then ordered. If this 66N was going to the ethanol plant it would be empties being delivered, or p...

Re: NCD Eastbounds Question

The 197 would be the most likely candidate to take them south out of Ft Wayne if that were indeed the case since it works East Wayne Yard. The 143,173,175,177 etc come off the Chicago District bypassing East Wayne altogether. I think it's very unlikely a road train would stop at Muncie to pick them ...

Re: NS Anniversery Heritage Units

The NKP unit is on its way to Ashtabula, OH now on its first run. The Conrail unit is in Chicago, while the Southern unit is in the bowels of a Virginia coal field right now.

The NS 700 series engines are slugs mated with GP40-2 mothers in the 3000 number series. They can lead and make for a VERY nice quiet ride!

Would make no sense for the 114 to go through Frankfort since she's a handoff to the Canadian Pacific at Bensenville Yard in Chicago. Originates in Knoxville...

Re: NS L80 10-19-11

If they were KBSR hoppers, they come from central Illinois and are loads of corn bound for the Poet Ethanol plant. We sometimes spot blocks of 50 there to "feed the ehtanol beast."
