Re: Garrett Building Demolition

Great photo as always Craig! I have a couple of questions ... 1. What is the time period of the photo? 2. What would the single track have been used for? I'm referring to the one that is directly east of the roundhouse, or just north of the current-day fire/police station. It looks like two passenge...

Re: Christmas train

Thanks for the information!

Hopefully if it does come through Butler it does so at a decent hour.

Christmas train

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone out there has information about this.
In Butler, there is talk of a Christmas train coming through on the Norfolk Southern tracks in early December around 9 p.m.
Does anyone have knowledge or inside information about this?
Thank you!

Re: Visitors on the INER

I'm guessing that I saw this train on the NS west of Spencerville a few days before this. On Wednesday, April 9, I had to wait for a long grain train - led by a single Kansas City Southern locomotive (didn't get the number) - to pull into the siding at the C.R. 68/NS crossing west of Spencerville. I...

Eel River, Erie Lackawanna country

Hi everybody, Work took me into Eel River and Erie Lackawanna country today, and I really enjoyed it, but it also sparked some questions. In Denver, I found this side-by-side arrangement over a very small waterway or ditch just south of S.R. 16. Does anyone have an idea what this would have been for...

Norfolk Southern heritage locomotive unit 8114

Hi everybody, Around 12:30 p.m. today, I spotted Norfolk Southern Heritage unit 8114 in the middle of a three-engine set eastbound toward Butler. The train was waiting for a clear signal across from the humane shelter along U.S. 6. I was going the other way and was in traffic, so I couldn't stop and...

Re: Jan 21 trip to Butler

Longtime lurker, train watcher/train interest, first-time poster. I've seen CP engines at the rear of some freight and ethanol trains too. They don't seem to do this for every train, but I have noticed it more recently. Around Butler, I've only seen CP do this. Is it for pushing assistance? Do they ...
