For the last two mornings, when I crossed the north end of the GR&I on I-69, I see a track crew working just east of the State Highway Garage. Is this routine maintenance or something else?

My guess is not. The Eel River had a roundhouse and yard in Butler and the FW&J had facilities in Fort Wayne. Of course B&O had everything in Garrett.

I had to go to Woodburn yesterday afternoon on business, so naturally I had to swing up 101 and drive down the street along the tracks. I was surprised to see only three covered hoppers on a siding. Last time I was there, there were maybe a dozen cars there.
