Re: Bluffton Indiana, The WBCR, the MofW train and more!

I noticed they were working north of Hugo yesterday. The work was getting close to Junction. Is the work almost done?

Re: Bluffton Indiana, The WBCR, the MofW train and more!

The work has begun. They are working north of Yoder. I'll have pictures of it as soon as I find out how to get them smaller than 1 Mb. They have one crossing tore up. At Yoder there was a huge pile of spikes next to the signal.

Re: Bluffton Indiana, The WBCR, the MofW train and more!

I thought 90K was parked at Baer Field yard. I noticed some orange gondolas down there a little bit ago. Are the camp cars normally at New Yard, or are they getting ready for the work on the New Castle District?

Re: Bluffton Indiana, The WBCR, the MofW train and more!

I just heard a work train called 90K clear Yoder on my scanner. I wonder if that might be more MofW equipment. Maybe it's more ties or ballast (like the NCD needs any more ballast).

It looks like they will be replacing those also.

Re: Bluffton Indiana, The WBCR, the MofW train and more!

It was CSX 4823 which is a SD70AC. I'll get the picture off of my phone. L69 was at least a mile long when it left Yoder. Even though I didn't have a scanner at that time, I could tell it was L69 by it's contents. I think it was there for at least an hour. As for the L68 I thought I heard it on my s...

Discussion forums for each line

I was thinking about having a forum for each line. One for the New Castle, one for the Huntington, etc. Discussion for each doesn't have to stay within that forum, if it is a trip report about your trip to Montpelier, it is also allowed in the New Castle District forum.

Molten Sulfur

I have a question, do those Molten Sulfur trains still run on the New Castle District? I noticed they haven't been running lately. Maybe they still run but I don't see them.

Re: Bluffton Indiana, The WBCR, the MofW train and more!

Last week, I remember seeing a couple of gondolas at the Yoder Siding with trucks unloading them. A couple of days later I saw them heading up to Fort Wayne on the 368. On that same 368 I saw what looked like a flatcar with a crane on it. I saw that same flatcar on today's L69. On an unrelated topic...

Re: Bluffton Indiana, The WBCR, the MofW train and more!

I saw the work train(91K) with 3566 and 2 less gondolas along the NCD at about Milepost 177 putting down new ties. I wonder if NS is going to put in new ties soon. That would be interesting to see what kind of equipment they use. FYI 91K is sitting up at Baer Field yard a lot. Once I remember seeing...

Re: Narrow band radio

It would be easier if they used Motorola. Most scanners already have the ability to scan those. My BC72XLT unfortunately doesn't scan that.

East Wayne 3 9 13

Went down to E Wayne on Saturday and drove down Nelson Rd., caught a picture on my phone. To my surprise, two sequential UP locomotives were sitting on the 197. Then, I went to my favorite spot, the dead end at Estella Ave. on the north side. Saw the last half of the 365. After that, 197 left with U...

Are those the ones in Pennsylvania? Why not here, or are the ones you are talking about here?

Re: Rail traffic through the Fort.

No wonder I saw 4 UP engines at E Wayne on Saturday. 1 was on 18E, 2 were sitting on a locomotive storage track, and 1 was sitting at the fueling area.

Re: Narrow band radio

I have two scanners, a Uniden BC72XLT and a GRE PSR-410. My Uniden scanner rounds 160.4475 (160.44 in Narrow band) to 160.45. My GRE scanner keeps it. By the way 160.38 narrow band is 160.3875, 160.44 is 160.4475, 161.19 is 161.1975 and I haven't looked up the narrow band frequencies for other norma...
