Re: Trains seen on NCD!
NS has been busy scattering ties along the NCD in MayJune using the Herzog custom-built-yellow-cab locomotive. So far it seems it is from HUGO to Muncie. I haven't been trackside any further north or south lately, it might cover even more of the line. A ballast cleaner has been back and forth around...

Re: Can anybody explain the city of Fort Wayne's lack of interest in Headwater's Junction?
Man, I've been trying to reply to your May 4 post for three weeks, and have been blocked by the Spamhaus spam filter claiming that my ISP had been "blacklisted" Just on Comcast cable. So it looks like the keeper of the blacklist needs to do a refresh? Seems to be working once again, I was able to p...

Re: Can anybody explain the city of Fort Wayne's lack of interest in Headwater's Junction?
While working on highway/street projects, I learned there are many onerous laws dealing with re-interment specifically designed to deter. Only a crusader would be able to jump through the hoops. The Chief and Johnny are safe for now.

Re: Then and Now at Avilla Indiana
While it is sad the GR&I is gone, if it had survived, there is a chance the New Castle District would not have been upgraded like it was.

I would think it would be working a lot harder to get enough momentum to climb the hill out of the river valley.

Re: Steuben County's Railroads
Sorry, I couldn't make it.
My Great Grandfather lived on Lake Gage and talked about being able to take the train into Angola. I didn't believe him, but over the years, I've found the old grade and bridge abutments in the area.

Re: Ft Wayne, Lacon, and North Platte Airline RR
Thanks. I see a couple of things that tripped me up. I always pictured the FFW&W as an interurban and I didn't count all the segments of the PRR empire as separate entities.

Re: PRR Coal Dock
When I was staking out new tracks for Triple Crown, I saw that the concrete pads radiating around the former turntable were still there. So there is still proof it was there.

Re: Ft Wayne, Lacon, and North Platte Airline RR
Interesting. I never heard of this before. As to the Railroad History of Fort Wayne, the city was served by nine steam railroads, not six, and two more terminated in and served Allen County outside of Ft. Wayne. The Pittsburgh, Ft. Wayne & Chicago Railway was leased to and operated by the Pennsy, b...

So that photo was at a crossing, that explains what I was seeing.
You know your photos are good when nit-pickers can zoom in and read the manufacturer's marks on the web of the rail.

Re: Indiana Northeastern's Western Extension towards Chicago
Bob,
Did you happen to see if they were still storing cars West of Coldwater?
This same line is active between Sturgis and White Pigeon, operated by Michigan Southern. At Sturgis, they turn the corner and serve a few customers on the former GR&I.
