Re: No Wonder this Place is Dead
OK, that posted when I used the Firefox browser but I got the Spamhaus block when I used Safari, which is what I use the most. Interesting to know.

Re: No Wonder this Place is Dead
I'm simply posting to see if I can. This site, sadly, is nearly as dead as the Indianarailroads site, which the administrator says he's going to get back up when he finds the time. One might speculate that not much happens out of the way in Northeast Indiana these days and with the loss of the dispa...

PRR Coal Dock
Found this picture today of the PRR coal dock that once spanned the mains at Piqua Yard, the only color picture I have ever seen of it. I don't think it's ever been posted here before. Also, check out that center cab locomotive. http://www.godfatherrails.com/photos/ss.asp?btNext=Next+%3E%3E&ID=2677&...

You can always read the first page of TO for free. The TO comments gave no clues as to what the issues may be.

Re: Crew assignments
That pool from Elkhart to Peru was started up right after the CR acquisition. The large consolidated rosters went into effect at the same time. Other than pilot service for Elkhart crews to learn the road from Wabash to Peru, there were no special provisions. It was the same way with the Peru-Toledo...

Re: Then and Now on the EL at Huntington
There were no semaphores there but colored light signals, as can be seen in the 1968 picture. I remember many times going over the Route 24 bridge and looking toward the eastbound signal to see it lit yellow for approach and I never saw a more permissive indication there.

Re: Future of the Ft Wayne Railfan site
I thought this time it's gone forever and then, it arises. I, for one, barely know what goes on in Fort Wayne anymore, I haven't lived there for a number o years. They tell me it's an eerie sight to drive by the old superintendent's building at East Wayne and there's not a single automobile in the p...

Re: Crew assignments
No. I couldn't begin to say why they told you that but over the years, they've offered transfers to other locations where they were short-handed or saw an increase in business. Some of those transfers turned out better than others. Anyone who would start today becomes part of a large seniority distr...

Re: Crew assignments
Peru used to have interdivisional runs, meaning that because of the various seniority districts, the runs were divided up among crews of various home terminals. For example, the Decatur pool was divided up with the boundary being at Tilton, IL, which was the one-time crew change point. The Bellevue ...

Re: Crew assignments
Fort Wayne crews run to Cincinnati, Chicago, Bellevue, and Elkhart. AFAIK, that's it. In the past, there have been Fort Wayne assignments that ran to Detroit and to Mansfield but not currently. There are no Cincinnati or Chicago-based crews running into Fort Wayne.

Wreck at California Road
I’ve seen pictures of this wreck before but I never found the details of what happened, exactly. California Road becomes Coliseum.

Re: Erie Lackawanna Ohio City Ohio
Hurricane Agnes in 1972 that caused the bankruptcy, too many routes from the east to Chicago, a bad decline in maintenance, a lack of plant modernization, made it an easy choice. If only it could have hung on for a few years, it would have made a great intermodal route. I don't know if the long disc...

A Wabash Picture
These pictures have been released for viewing to the public, thanks to the folks at the Lake States Railway Historical Association. Most of the collections are aimed at Chicago area railroads but there are some Nickel Plate pictures and I found this one Wabash Fort Wayne picture, with the bonus of a...
