Re: Erie Lackawanna Ohio City Ohio

Hurricane Agnes in 1972 that caused the bankruptcy, too many routes from the east to Chicago, a bad decline in maintenance, a lack of plant modernization, made it an easy choice. If only it could have hung on for a few years, it would have made a great intermodal route. I don't know if the long disc...

A Wabash Picture

These pictures have been released for viewing to the public, thanks to the folks at the Lake States Railway Historical Association. Most of the collections are aimed at Chicago area railroads but there are some Nickel Plate pictures and I found this one Wabash Fort Wayne picture, with the bonus of a...

If you're patient enough, everything eventually shows up. Thank you for sharing that, wonder if that's 1913, when there was massive flooding.

Do you know if it was originally built by the Wabash in the shops in Decatur, IL?

I'm not certain that others will be able to see this. If not, I'll see what I can do.

Re: GR&I head on near Cadillac MI with Vandalia Car

Wonder if that Michigan Central stock car had any passengers.

You don't have to read very far in any old newspaper of that era to find a train wreck with fatalities. Such a hazardous job

Poor man, doing his job, doing nothing wrong. Railroading is still a hazardous business. He was only 39.

Was that original Pittsburgh and West Virginia power? They had F-M power, as did AC&Y but I don't think AC&Y power ever was repainted into an N&W scheme.

Pevler blue and the N&W bullet logo. Still equipped with the cage the NKP bought to keep someone from falling over the end. Thank you for posting.

I see it took me nearly fifteen years to write five hundred posts. Even though it's not the most active of boards, I'm glad it's still here

Re: Division Realignment

It probably won't make much difference in Fort Wayne. The dispatchers are gone, the Lake Division HQ was moved to Cincinnati last year (?), rumor has it that the yard office at East Wayne may be demolished and all functions and crews reporting would be moved to the former super's building but that's...

Division Realignment

NS has combined more operating divisions and renamed some of them. The Lake Division through Fort Wayne is now divided between the Heartland Division, west of Fort Wayne to Chicago and west of Peru. East of Fort Wayne and Peru, it becomes the Great Lakes Division.

Is there an active administrator? I've thought this site has been almost set adrift for years now.

Confession, I'm writing this response mostly to see if there is any problem posting it.
