Re: No Wonder this Place is Dead

One might speculate that not much happens out of the way in Northeast Indiana these days and with the loss of the dispatchers and much of what went on out at East Wayne, it's become very much a lack of interest scene. Also, some of those who posted seem to have disappeared (or worse) and the fellow...

test day 23

success! I can re-set the counter.
Wow, that's a cryptic statement. Does that mean you tried 23 days in a row, and spamhaus had you blocked all the time?

I'm still blocked through my main address, and am using this bypass proxy, at least until spamhaus "learns" to block it too

Re: Fort wayne maps 1898

Anyone having difficulty seeing the 1940 map in it's full size, can click on the link, and then when the limited size image appears, right-click on it and select either "open in new window/tab" or "save as", and either choice should produce a full sized image. I found it interesting the way the prop...

Re: No Wonder this Place is Dead

I still get blocked by Spamhaus far more often than I manage to get through. Just because if "fails" to screw things up one day does not mean it's fixed. Something more permanent should be done. Just an observation, if the person currently responsible for this site has no clue who "Spamhaus" is, and...

Re: Fort wayne maps 1898

At the below link is a fairy large map of the southern half of Fort Wayne, used to chart out enumeration districts for the 1940 census. Some descriptor I saw at the census site said the actual map was from a 1938 vintage. Which of course makes it interesting because that coincides with the 1938 aeri...

Re: Can anybody explain the city of Fort Wayne's lack of interest in Headwater's Junction?

I believe that NKP 765 will become a resident of Steuben County Indiana.. and something has me thinking this will be long term! Personally I believe that it is a great idea, location and the physical plant of the Indiana Northeastern should be an excellent fit. I actually like that better than most...

Re: Can anybody explain the city of Fort Wayne's lack of interest in Headwater's Junction?

Man, I've been trying to reply to your May 4 post for three weeks, and have been blocked by the Spamhaus spam filter claiming that my ISP had been "blacklisted" Just on Comcast cable. So it looks like the keeper of the blacklist needs to do a refresh? I agree with you that I'd like to know more abou...

No Wonder this Place is Dead

I'm still being denied when trying to post from my home via direct route or through a proxy, by the "Spamhaus" feature claiming that my ISP is "blacklisted" For the record, I browse all over the internet, post in dozens of online communities...regularly. And this is the only place where I experience...

Re: Fort wayne maps 1898

Glad to be of service. To be truthful, when I first saw this map (only just recently in fact), I just figured your earlier curiosity was "tongue in cheek", that you were only asking about the location because you already knew the answer. So I figured I was "calling" you... You are lucky to st...

Interesting that the triangle of land north of Illinois road shows being owned by the lake Erie & Western RY. One has to wonder why and how they would come to own that particular property.
Interesting neighborhood, to say the least (1924)

Re: Ft Wayne, Lacon, and North Platte Airline RR

It was always my understanding that P, FW, & Chi was owned by a partnership funded mostly by PRR plus a minority of local interests, to circumvent the charter requirement, which after a strategic bankruptcy was filtered into the Pennsylvania Company , and subsequently resolved after USRA interventio...

Thanks for the clarification, Craig. So then, at the relevant time who owned the P, FW, & CHI?

Re: Crew assignments

This does not prevent a person from the opposite terminal from working these jobs, if they wish to make that move but that means their layovers would mostly be longer when they arrive away-from-home rather than home. Reading that a second time spiked my memory about what an NS corporate guy said at...

Re: Norther Indiana Passenger Rail

It's hard to not feel like a bad guy, just for trying to be realistic. But I'm forced to ponder what interest is really being served if such an operation did come to fruition? The Amtrak schedule in Waterloo is horrible (imo), so I guess that "more convenient service" at hours that it's likely to be...
