Impending demolishment of an Erie relic !

The Decatur Daily Democrat published a news article the concrete supporting tower of the ex-Erie water tank will be demolished at an unknown date . Urban renewal is the reason given.The actual tank was removed years ago.

In Decatur the freight house,not the station, might be rebuilt.It is in storage now.

The Vandalia 104 is a ex L&N 2271 SW9 blt 4-50. Info was on thedieselshop.us . Thanks for the photo,we don't see friction type axle bearings very often. Joe

The derailed GE is a 35 ton type,ex marble cliff quarry. The paper tried to contact Azars,the owner of the Back 40 car but never got a reply .
